The United States Citizenship and Immigration regularly update the I-9 Form once every a couple of years. The latest revision added the translator section at the bottom of the first page to state if any translator took place during the completion of the form. As of late 2019, the agency is working on a current form and till it comes out, the form with the revision date July 17, 2017, can still be used.
Since the form isn’t needed to be sent anywhere unlike other work-forms like W-2, employers may not be in rush to request it from their newly hired employees. Doing so can bring serious penalties in case of an inspection by the ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement).
How to print the I-9 Form
The USCIS provides every document that anybody needs to fulfill their duties without any charge at all. You can obtain all the necessary forms including the I-9 from the USCIS website in the form of a PDF file which you can ultimately view, download, and print right off from your browser without the need for any third-party software.
The 3-page long USCIS Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification must be submitted to employers as it is. Only completing the first-page and giving it to your employer would risk the entity for being subjected to penalties if your employer doesn’t fill out and keep all-three pages of the form together.
The penalty for a missing I-9 for every employee is $50. This will occur each instance the business misses to have in the personnel files in an inspection by the ICE which is was formally a part of the USCIS but now operates on its own.
